quick morning update from Cizur Minor

7.00am pitch black..misty..more rain coming..and ah maybe snow..

we sat last night having dinner..ah pilgrims dinner that is ..you know ...salad then fish and chips, chicken wings and chips...blah blah blah..will do more on that later just for you Anna...back to last night ..we were watching the news..it appears that snow is around..yes it is bloody FREEZING and yes Mark i should have packed your waterproof pants!!!! but i was thinking of the weight..our gloves are useless too ..
There were about 15`people in our room last night, we were last on the fold out beds..Church Bells ringing every hour and half hour..yes and on the hour 2 lots of bells ring..we saw the church last night as we staggered back up the road (remember the bottle of red with evry pilgrim meal)to the Alburgue.
So we will see what state we arrive in tonight, we have a mountain to climb today but only one we think.
Adios

  1. Good luck with all the rain and cold, and hope you soon get a break from it. I left from Le Puy 14 April last year, and got very similar weather by the sound of it. (But a week after snow I got some 30+ temps for a few days, so you never know what is in store!) With the wet of course may come the mud.... so I hope that climb up to that sculpture isn't too much of a slip slop in the slippery mud kind of deal. I know I am a total stranger, but I know I am going to enjoy reading your account!

  5. Hey Chris and Michele, in case you haven't noticed Luke said that easter is REALLY big in Spain (he was there for easter last year and is jealous of you both). You have to keep an eye out for a speciality called turron which is a spanish tradition at easter - best way to describe it is like a nougat but with more almonds and a bit crunchier. Luke bought several kilos of it back with him along with 8kg of Belgian choc! I feel for you both in the cold after leaving Tweed paradise.....keep having fun!

  6. Hi Babe, Great to see so much support from strangers. Just home from dinner with the gang, all send their love. I did behave myself.
    Love You.

  7. Hope the cold weather eases off for you - at least you can wear the clothes and don't have to carry them in the pack! Take care, Linda.
